August 24, 2020
[TORONTO, ON.] On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, together with Prince’s Trust Canada, Opportunity For All Youth will host a one-hour online panel discussion on the importance of youth in the workplace, and how organizations can support young people in a competitive, post-COVID economy. Click here for list of panelists and bios.
“COVID-19 has exposed many systemic inequities for young people who want to find meaningful work and grow into careers”, said Josee Thibault, Senior Manager, Youth Employment Strategies, Opportunity For All Youth, and the event moderator. “We have a unique opportunity in this challenging time to come together to imagine, collaborate, and learn from each other so that we do our part to set youth up for success, and shape a bright future that is inclusive, diverse, and accessible”
The virtual event, coined Spaces for Success, will include discussion around how to build an inclusive workplace, the needs of young people looking for meaningful opportunities, and the advantages of hiring youth. The session will feature four expert panelists:
- Noah Aiken-Klar, Director, T&O Academic & Strategic Relationships, Early Talent, RBC
- Habon Ali, Youth Intern, Opportunity For All Youth and member of Prime Ministers Youth Council
- Christopher Delledonne, Director of Human Resources, Bell Mobility, Retail & The Source
- Avelina Pun, Employment Services Supervisor, Yonge Street Mission
The event comes at an important time, said Sharon Broughton, CEO, Prince’s Trust Canada, and is a demonstration of the power of partnership. “When we come together like this, with so many voices around the table, we demonstrate what it is to collaborate and learn from each other – and when young people need us to do so, the most. Together, we can do mighty, meaningful things that have lasting impact, and we’re honoured to lead the discussion.”
Registration for the event is available online.
Opportunity for All Youth (O4AY) aims to close the opportunity divide by identifying and removing barriers to employment for vulnerable and marginalized youth. O4AY is an employer-led coalition that connects job-ready youth with early employment opportunities through community service providers. Our goal is to change the youth employment system in Canada so that it works better for everyone, from young job seekers and the community service organizations who support them, to the businesses who hire and invest in them.
Prince’s Trust Canada is a national charity whose vision is a sustainable future for Canada, where young people and communities thrive. Through innovative partnerships and guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development goals, our programs help young people overcome barriers to employment and prepare for the future of work, provide entrepreneurship training and support for veterans, and address climate change mitigation and adaptation. Our work is inspired by our Founder and President, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, and is driven by his vision for a more sustainable future.
