A first year Political Science Major at the University of Calgary, Thania is passionate about studying conflicts and cooperation within societies and is excited to bring this unique perspective to the Youth Innovation Council. Persistent and goal driven, Thania hopes to create change within the youth employment system and ensure that youth of the future do not face the hardships that youth are facing today. Although she may seem shy and quiet, she desires to be a voice for youth who feel underrepresented within society and be an inspiration to them!

While working outdoors, it was so hot that I took off my socks and put my feet up on the table during my lunch break. As I was eating, a co-worker walked in on me and he just stared at me for a good 5 seconds and left!

Our icebreakers at the Youth Innovation Council meetings! Though we haven’t been together physically, talking about non-work related topics leads us to some very funny and entertaining topics which makes the rest of the work day such a breeze!

When I was younger, I had always wanted to learn how to play the organ for church, but my parents did not have the means to enroll me into classes, so I self taught myself in a year how to play. Now, four years later, I am the leader of the choir in my religious group.”
